About Me
Journey From Archaeologist to Artist!
My name is Olle Lundgren and I am a Swedish artist and archaeologist.
I have always had a passion for landscapes, and my work as an archaeologist has given me amazing opportunities to study some breathtaking views.
After studying at Oxford, my career began in the English countryside, taking me from the rolling hills and pastures of the Cotswolds down to the cold southern coast. I then excavated my way through an 18th-century penal colony in Sydney, Australia, and had the chance to work with the local Aboriginal community in the dramatic Australian wilderness.
Throughout this time, I always found myself painting—trying to capture the beauty of the natural world while also drawing inspiration from my favorite fantasy books and game settings…
Painting
I was originally drawn to oil painting and spent many years of self-study using primarily pallet knife techniques. Then in 2008, I got my first drawing tablet and began teaching myself digital painting following techniques inspired by artists such as Craig Mullins. I have now been painting digitally for almost 20 years!
(This method of painting has also been very accommodating for my nomadic life over the past few years)
This portfolio includes samples of my personal work, as well as commissioned projects for video games and literature.
Thanks for having a look!
